Lophostemon confertus

Brisbane Box
Myrtaceae
Evergreen, Trees

Australian native somewhat resembling eucalyptus. Erect, moderate to fast growth to 30–45 ft. tall and 25 ft. wide. Trunk and limbs resemble those of madrone (Arbutus menziesii), with reddish brown bark flaking off to reveal smooth, light-colored bark beneath. Oval, leathery bright green leaves are 4–6 in. long and tend to cluster at tips of branchlets. White to cream-colored, 3/4-in. flowers in clusters of three to seven appear in summer, followed by woody capsules like those of eucalyptus.
