Mammillaria

Cactaceae
Cacti and succulents

Specialists offer as many as 100 species of these cacti, which are chiefly grown in containers. Plants are small (usually 2–6 in. high), cylindrical or globe shaped, with single or clustered stems. Purple, red, pink, or white flowers (generally small) are arranged in a circle near the top of the plant. All mammillarias are easy to grow. Provide some shade in hot desert regions. Give regular moisture during growing season; keep dry in winter to induce bloom.
