Mammillaria

Cactaceae
Cacti and succulents

Specialists offer as many as 100 species of these cacti, which are chiefly grown in pots. Plants are small (usually 2 to 6 in. high), cylindrical or globe shaped, with single or clustered stems. Purple, red, pink, or white flowers (generally small) are arranged in a circle near top of plant. All mammillarias are easy to grow. Provide some shade in hot desert regions. Give regular moisture during growing season; keep dry in winter to induce bloom.
