MYOPORUM

These evergreen shrubs and trees produce bell-shaped flowers that are attractive at close range but not showy; fruit is small but colorful. Shiny dark green leaves have translucent dots. The plant is tough and fast growing.

Myoporum parvifolium

Native to Australia. This groundcover grows to 3–6 in. high and 9 ft. wide, with a dense covering of light green leaves 1/4–1 1/2 in. long and 1/4 in. or less wide. Tiny white summer flowers are followed by purple fruits. Plant 6–8 ft. apart; plants will fill in within 6 months, rooting where stems touch moist soil. Good on banks or slopes. Will not tolerate foot traffic.
