White Cup
Solanaceae
Perennials

NIEREMBERGIA

Small genus of plants from sunny, moist areas in South America. Species include a spreading mound and a ground-covering mat. Both are blanketed with broadly cup-shaped blooms in summer. Beyond the hardiness range, treat these perennials as annuals.

Nierembergia repens

Native to Andean and warm-temperate South America. This species grows as a mat to 4–6 in. high and 2 ft. wide, with bright green foliage and white blossoms. For best performance, don’t crowd it with more aggressive plants. Not as heat-tolerant as N. linariifolia.
