PANDOREA

Twining vines noted for clusters of trumpet-shaped flowers and for rich green, glossy, divided leaves; the foliage is so attractive that the plants look lovely even when out of bloom. Perform best in good, organically enriched soil. Blooms are borne on the previous year’s growth; prune to shape or thin vines after flowering.

Pandorea jasminoides

Native to Australia. Fast growth to 20–30 ft. Each leaf has five to seven oval, 1–2-in.-long leaflets with pointed tips. Typically unscented flowers are white with pink throats, 1 1/2–2 in. long; bloom from late spring to early fall. Plant in lee of the prevailing wind. Prolonged freezes will kill this species and its varieties. Regular water.
