POLYSTICHUM

Hardy, symmetrical, easy-to-grow plants with evergreen fronds, except in the case of Polystichum braunii. Among the most useful and widely planted ferns; combine well with other plants. Do best in rich, well-drained soil. Use in shady beds, along house walls, and in mixed woodland plantings.

Polystichum polyblepharum

Native to Asia. Handsome, dense, lacy-looking plant to 2–3 ft. tall, 3 ft.wide. Glossy dark green fronds. Golden, bristled unfurling fronds in spring. Sometimes sold as P. setosum.
