Arachniodes simplicior

This fern from Japan and China is sometimes referred to as holly fern. It is usually seen in its variety ‘Variegata’, growing 10–18 in. tall and nearly twice as wide. The fronds are broadly triangular, and once-divided, the divisions deeply cut. Each division is marked by a yellow stripe along its full length. Evergreen where winters are warm; deciduous in frosty regions.
