These choice, slow-growing fan palms form bamboolike clumps. Foliage is deep green; trunks are covered with a net of dark, fibrous leaf sheaths. Several variegated forms exist, and fanciers are willing to pay very high prices for good examples. Good indoor plants.
From China, this palm grows 5 to 12 ft. tall and wide. One of the finest houseplants. Withstands neglect and poor light but responds quickly to better light, regular watering and fertilizing.
