RHOPALOSTYLIS

Feather palms with long, clean trunks marked with closely spaced rings. Moderate growth rate. Best in frost-free gardens.

Rhopalostylis sapida

To 30 ft. high, 15 ft. wide. Feathery leaves 4 to 8 ft. long stand upright from a prominent bulge at top of trunk, making the tree look like a giant shaving brush. Good container plant where small space dictates an upright palm. This species requires a cool, moist, subtropical climate, which includes Southern California but excludes the South.
