ROYSTONEA

Stately, symmetrical feather palms. Tall, smooth gray trunk is marked with rings and topped by a green crown shaft formed by the overlapping bases of the feathery fronds. Grows at a moderate to fast rate. Does best in moist, well-drained soil. Good wind and salt resistance. Can be used as street or avenue trees, to frame large buildings, and  in groups with other palms. They look especially majestic planted in rows.

Roystonea regia

Native to Cuba. Grows to 50–75 ft. tall and 30 ft. wide. Trunk is swollen at the base, tapering toward the top, sometimes swollen toward the middle. Bright green, 10–20-ft.-long fronds arch gracefully in all directions.
