SENECIO

Taxonomists have shaken up this group of daisy relatives, reclassifying two of its most important members and many second-tier species as well. One plant formerly known as dusty miller, Senecio greyi, is now a Brachyglottis; florists’ cineraria, S. x hybridus, is now Pericallis x hybrida. In addition, some succulent species have been moved here from Kleinia, and some former Senecios have been moved to Kleinia

This succulent shrubby perennial is native to South Africa. Grows to 1–1 1/2 ft. tall and 2 ft. wide. Cylindrical, slightly curved, striking blue-gray leaves to 6 in. long. Use as groundcover where blue-gray effect is desired. Beyond the hardiness range, grow in a container and provide winter protection.
