Hawaiian native. There are many forms of this plant, from ground covers to shrubs 10 ft. high and nearly as wide. Roundish, bright green to silvery green leaves to  in. long. Blooms all year, producing hibiscuslike, 1/2- to 1-in. flowers in colors ranging from yellow and orange to dull red. Blossoms are used in leis. Good wind tolerance.
