Sollya heterophylla

Australian Bluebell Creeper
Pittosporaceae
Evergreen, Shrubs, Vines

Loose, spreading shrub from Australia grows to 2–3 ft. tall and 4–5 ft. wide. Given support and training, climbs to 6–8 ft. Glossy green foliage has a light, delicate look. Clusters of small, bell-shaped, brilliant blue flowers bloom almost all summer. ‘Alba’ has white blooms; ‘Rosea’ bears pink flowers. Use as a groundcover or bank cover, in borders, along steps, draped over low walls, or in containers. Will grow under eucalyptus trees. S. h. parviflora (S. parviflora) has a more vining  habit and somewhat smaller flowers in a darker blue.

Drought-tolerant but prefers some moisture. Good drainage is crucial, however; the plant will die in poorly drained soil. Prune frequently to encourage dense habit.
