Brazilian native to 50 ft. tall, 20 to 25 ft. wide, with exceptionally straight trunk. Arching, glossy bright green, 10- to 15-ft.-long leaves (they break in high winds). May produce decorative orange dates. Give well-drained soil. In alkaline soils, plants yellow and slowly die. Grows quickly with fertilizer.
