Syringa x hyacinthiflora

Lilac
Oleaceae
Deciduous, Shrubs

Group of hybrids between S. vulgaris and S. oblata, a Chinese species. Resemble S. vulgaris but they generally bloom 7 to 10 days earlier and are more heat-tolerant. Can reach 20 ft tall and as wide.

There are many varieties available with single or double blooms in shades of purple, magenta, pink, and white. Newer hybrids include ‘Declaration’, with large, reddish purple blooms, and disease-resistant ‘Old Glory’, with bluish purple flowers. ‘Maiden’s Blush’ is an excellent pink flowering form.
