ARUNCUS

These perennials resemble astilbe, with slowly spreading clumps of finely divided leaves topped in summer by plumy, branched clusters of tiny white or cream flowers. Good in perennial borders or at the edge of a woodland against a dark background.

From Korea. Deep green, finely divided leaves make a mound 1 ft. tall and wide. White flower plumes reach 16 in. high. Useful in rock gardens, as edgings, for small-scale groundcover.
