Native to Japan. Pyramidal, coniferous, often shrubby; very slow growing to 30 to 50 ft. tall, 10 to 20 ft. wide. Foliage resembles that of Thuja, but sprays are coarser, glossy, branching in staghorn effect. Best where summers are cool and humid. Plant as single tree where foliage details can be appreciated. Slow growth makes it a good container plant.
