ZOYSIA

These Asian natives tend to spread slowly, are fairly deep rooted. Dormant and straw colored during the winter; turn green in spring. Use for lawns, ground covers. Plant using sod, sprigs, stolons, or plugs. Mow lawns 1–2 in. high.

Zoysia tenuifolia

Creeping, fine textured, bumpy. Grows 3- to 6- high unmowed. Makes a beautiful grassy meadow or gives mossy Oriental effect in areas impossible to mow or water often. The farther inland, the longer the dormant season.
