HAKONECHLOA

Clumps of gracefully arching leaves characterize this choice grass from Japan. To 1–3 ft. tall, somewhat wider. Spreads slowly by underground runners; never invasive. Tolerates full sun in fog belt or cool northwestern gardens. Prefers rich, moist, well-drained soil. Choice for shade garden, cool rock garden, containers. All-green leaves of species turn coppery orange in fall. Colored-leaf selections are more widely grown.

'All Gold'

This is a clumping grass with golden yellow leaves; 14 in. tall, but more upright than ‘Aureola’.
