AGASTACHE

Summer-blooming perennials with aromatic foliage, whorls of flowers in spikelike clusters. All rebloom if deadheaded. Favorites with hummingbirds. Species from Mexico and the Southwest need excellent drainage, especially in wet winter areas.

Agastache rupestris

From southern Arizona, northern Mexico. To 1 1/2–2 1/2 ft. tall and 1 1/2 ft. wide, with narrow, fragrant gray-green leaves and spikes of orange flowers with lavender calyxes. Outstanding garden performance.
