ARGEMONE

Native to central and North America. Prickly-leafed and prickly-stemmed plants to 3 ft. tall, 1 1/2 ft. wide, with large, showy poppies that bloom mainly in summer. Easy to grow from seeds sown in place or in pots (transplant gently). Will reseed and colonize. Provide good drainage. Seed specialists may offer other species.
