Chorizema

Flame Pea

Evergreen, Shrubs, Flowers

These 2–5-ft.-tall Australian evergreens produce showy clusters of sweet pea-shaped flowers in a blend of orange and purplish red, late winter through spring. A lighter crop often blooms in fall. Fast growing, with slender, graceful branches. Let them spill over walls or banks, or out of containers. To keep them compact, pinch regularly and cut back after flowering. Hardy to 24°F (–4°C).
