Cynoglossum grande

Native to Oregon and California coast ranges and to Sierra Nevada slopes below 4,000 ft. Hairy, mostly basal leaves 6–12 in. long. Blue spring flowers with white centers. Plants reach 1–2 1/2 ft. tall and 1 ft. wide; dieback in summer to a heavy underground root. Choose a shaded, woodsy site with cool soil; provide little summer water.
