A small genus of plants formerly included in Chrysanthemum. The fast-growing species have ferny foliage and colorful daisy blooms. Sow seeds in spring, either in pots or in open ground.

Glebionis coronaria

Mediterranean native; sometimes seen naturalized on roadsides. Grows to 2 1/2 ft. high and 1 1/2 ft. wide, with coarsely cut light green leaves and yellow daisies in spring and summer. The variety usually still listed as C. c. spatiosum is the vegetable known as shungiku, chop-suey greens, or edible chrysanthemum; young leaves can be lightly steamed or added to soups.
