These woody-stemmed Southern California natives with tubular, lipped flowers were once listed as shrubby penstemons. Extremely drought-tolerant, they drop their leaves in summer unless watered. Need excellentdrainage.

Keckiella antirrhinoides

Erect to spreading habit to 4 ft. tall, 3 ft. or wider; leaves less than 1 in. long. Abundant show of fragrant yellow flowers in late spring and summer. Full sun.
