A delicate woodland groundcover, twinflower forms ground-hugging mats of evergreen, glossy green leaves that spread 3–5 ft. by runners. In late spring or early summer, pairs of pale or rosy pink, fragrant, trumpet-shaped, 1/3-in.-long flowers appear on 3-in. stems. Mulch around plants with leaf mold to induce spreading. Tolerates sunin cool-summer climates. NorthAmerican native; in the West,found from Northern Californiato Alaska and Idaho.
