Related to locust (Robinia) andyellow wood (Cladrastis kentukea),these are small tomedium-size trees with leavesdivided like feathers into manysmall, narrow leaflets. Theygrow at a slow to moderaterate. Summer flowers resemblesmall sweet peas; creamy toyellowish white, crowded intoerect, 4–6-in.-long, spikelikeclusters. Flat, 2–3-in.-long seed-podsfollow the blossoms.Plants are not fussy about soil.Need minimal pruning.
