PATRINIA

Native to eastern Asia. Deeply cut or lobed leaves form attractive mounds, but the real show comes in summer, when tall, slender stems produce flat-topped clusters of tiny blossoms. Good in perennial borders. Long-lastingcut flowers. Appreciate rich, well-drained soil. Do notplant near daylilies (Hemerocallis),since Patrinia species serve as the alternate host for daylily rust.

Patrinia scabiosifolia

To 4–6 ft. tall, 2 ft. wide. Flowering stems produce sprays of tiny yellow blossoms. Because stems have a see-through quality, plant can be grown either at front or at rearof border. May need staking.
