Patrinia scabiosifolia

Perennials, Flowers

Native to eastern Asia. Deeply cut or lobed leaves form attractive mounds, but the real show comes in summer, when tall, slender stems produce flat-topped clusters of tiny blossoms. Good in perennial borders. Long-lasting cut flowers. Appreciate rich, well-drained soil. Do not plant near daylilies (Hemerocallis), since Patrinia species serve as the alternate host for daylily rust.

Patrinia scabiosifolia

Grows to 4–6 ft. tall and 2 ft. wide. Flowering stems produce sprays of tiny yellow blossoms. Because stems have a see-through quality, the plant can be grown at either the front or the rear of a border. May need staking.
