PRITCHARDIA

Complex genus; includes 19 native Hawaiian species and about 25 species restricted to various other tropical Pacific islands. Erect, medium-size fan palms with straight trunk and regular form. Best in well-drained soil with moderate moisture. Plant in groups or use as specimens. Young plants tolerate shade and are good in containers, indoors or out.

Pritchardia thurstonii

Native to Fiji. Slow-growing, slender-trunkedtree to 15–30 ft. tall and 8 ft. wide. Bright green, 5–6-ft.-long leaves. Good salt tolerance.
