This slow-growing, drought-tolerant evergreen shrub growsto 6 ft. tall, 4 ft. wide, with small, lobed, resinous leavesand fragrant spring flowers thatlook like miniature single roses.Masses of showy (but individually tiny) straw-colored, feathery fruits follow. Rugged branches have peeling bark. Native to Mexico and Arizona. P. m. stansburiana,native in the Great Basin, California, and Arizona, grows to 4 ft. tall, with silvery leaves and creamy yellow flowers. Tolerates clay soil.
