Vauquelinia

Rosaceae
Evergreen, Shrubs, Trees, Flowers

Rather open-growing plants to 20 ft. tall and 15 ft. wide, with upright, sometimes twisted branches. Somewhat reminiscent of oleander (Nerium) in habit. Narrow, leathery, typically tooth-edged leaves are dark green above, grayish beneath. Small white flowers in 2–3-in. clusters decorate branch tips in spring. Blossoms are followed by woody seed capsules that last through fall and winter.

Grow as large shrubs or train as single- or multitrunked trees. Very drought-tolerant but look best with some water during the hot months.
