From California and Oregon. Grows to 30 ft., with 2–4-in. leaves that emerge grayish and mature to green; leaves turn red or yellow in autumn. ‘Roger’s Red’ holds its gray-green leaf color all summer, turns brilliant red in fall. ‘Walker Ridge’, to 6–10 ft., has brilliant red and orange fall color.
