Loropetalum chinense ‘Purple Pixie®’
Fringe Flower, Chinese Witchhazel
Evergreen, Ground covers, Shrubs, Flowers
Native to China and Japan. Grows to 6–10 ft. high and wide. Neat, compact habit, with tiers of arching or drooping branches. Roundish, light green, soft-textured leaves 1–2 in. long; throughout the year, the occasional leaf turns yellow or red, providing a nice touch of color. White to greenish flowers, each with four narrow, twisted, inch-long petals, appear in clusters of four to eight at branch tips. Flowering is heaviest in spring, but some bloom is likely at any time.
Easy-to-grow, low-maintenance groundcover shrub holds rich purple foliage year-round. ‘Purple Pixie®’ is great as a border edger, in mass plantings, on slopes, or cascading over retaining walls. Adds vibrant color spilling over containers and hanging baskets. From the Sunset Western Garden Collection.
