ANAGALLIS

Two colorful species are seen in the West, one an annual weed and the other an attractive perennial. Newer hybrids are becoming popular.

Anagallis hybrids

Summer annuals. ‘Cinnamon’ has medium pink blooms; those of ‘Spice’ are light pink. Both are low (3 in. high) and spreading, with small, spicily scented leaves. The Wildcat series is taller, 6–12 in. high, and comes in shades of blue, orange, and pink. All are good in containers and hanging baskets.
