Ceropegia linearis woodii
Rosary Vine
Asclepiadaceae
Cacti and succulents, Vines
From South Africa. This little vine features hanging or trailing thin stems growing from a tuberous base. Stems are lined with paired, heart-shaped leaves; they're thick and succulent, 2/3 in. long, dark green marbled with white. Little tubers that form on stems can be used to start new plants. Flowers are small, dull pink or purplish, not showy but interesting in structure. Best grown in pots; stems may trail in thin curtain or be trained on small trellis. Other species are available from specialists. Some are shrubby, some vining, and others stiffly succulent, but all of them have fascinating flower structure.
