DENDROMECON

Bush poppies give a showy display of bright yellow, 2-in. wide, poppylike flowers. Use on banks and roadsides, with other native shrubs.

Can be propagated from cuttings taken in summer. Get very few pests or diseases.

Dendromecon harfordii

Native to Santa Cruz and Santa Rosa islands off the coast of Southern California. Rounded or spreading large shrub or small tree grows to 8–20 ft. tall and as wide. Deep green leaves to 3 in. long, half as wide. Free flowering, producing yellow blossoms from spring into early summer, with scattered bloom throughout the year. Prune to thin or shape after bloom.
